Are you getting ready for Trek but you're unsure of how to structure you evening? Well, here's one idea from a Trek leader as it was submitted to Awana missionary to IL, Don Estep.
Allowing teens to serve as Leaders-in-Training is a great way to get them involved in minstering to others. But it is a big resposibility. We used this contract to help them and their parents understand the importance of their role. Feel free to edit this and use it with your LITs. (created by Sherry Thomas)
Christian colleges across the nation recognize the depth, value, and overall excellence of Awana and 24-7 Ministries. In fact, a growing number of top Christian schools have established scholarship programs for Awana achievers. Timothy, Meriotorious, and Citation achievers could lower their college tuition costs by up to $12,000!
Summit features a Christian college fair, the Citation Award ceremony and opening and closing ceremonies, but the biggest draw is the competition. Students compete in AwanaGames™, Bible Quizzing, Fine Arts. College scholarships are given for winners in Bible Quizzing and some Fine Arts categories.
The Fine Arts competition is designed to help encourage students to develop their ministry-related gifts. The two basic categories are musical and non-musical. The musical categories are piano, vocal (solo and group) and instrumental. The non-musical categories include public speaking, expressive arts, writing, and graphic design.
You've taught your youth group about the mission field. Now take them there.*
The MIT Explore Level is a short-term, introductory approach to missions that gives church youth groups dynamic resources for drawing young people to the mission field. You lead your youth group on a seven- to 10-day mission trip using Awana as your ministry tool to reach and train kids for Christ.*
The MIT Expand Level is for high school juniors and seniors who are committed to Christ, considering full-time ministry and want to go beyond the “usual” this summer! Expand is a complete mission experience, sending teams of young people overseas for two to three weeks as missionaries. MIT assigns students to these teams based on where they live in the United States*
The MIT Extend Level is an opportunity for young people from Awana-registered churches to walk in a missionary’s shoes. Mature Christians between ages 18 and 25 serve internships around the globe under the guidance and mentoring of an Awana missionary. From Papua New Guinea to Brazil, interns receive real-world experience and training while fulfilling the Great Commission in an international or U.S. location. Whether your internship lasts two months or two years, you will reap lifelong benefits.
